Learn Why the Essiac Tea Texture Can Change While it's Stored in the Fridge

Have you ever noticed that your Essiac Tea starts to seem "slimier" after a few days of being stored in the fridge?

It's from the Slippery Elm Bark. Like the name implies, Slippery Elm Bark is, well...slippery! This property takes a few days to develop after the brewing process. The fresher the Slippery Elm Bark is, the more slippery the tea becomes. Furthermore, because all of our herbs are organic there are natural variations from batch to batch that takes place. This does not interfere with the medicinal properties, but it does alter taste and texture somewhat.

A lot of our customers call and ask us if the change in texture as the tea is left in the fridge means the tea has gone bad. This is absolutely not the case as long as you have followed brewing and storing instructions. The tea will keep for 2-3 weeks in the fridge, and a change of texture is expected and not cause for concern. Because the tea is made without unhealthy preservatives, it's expected for there to be changes at it sits in the fridge.

Aside from it's role in the Essiac Tea formula, Slippery Elm Bark is also used to alleviate sore throats and can be found in many throat lozenges. It's not hard to imagine how slippery elm bark would be soothing to a throat after taking Essiac Tea and experiencing the texture.

Likewise, slippery elm bark helps regulate digestion by easing both constipation and diarrhea. It's texture helps everything flow through the digestive tract just as nature intended.

  • Hi Lalago,

Thanks for writing. We have had reports that people with epilepsy do better on essiac than off, but I wouldn’t say that it happens every time. The same is true for autism.

  • I am so sorry to hear that your husband’s bladder cancer came back while on essiac. That is highly unusual.

Is he doing the 3 oz. three times per day on an empty stomach?

  • Hi there beautiful people. I’m waiting for my very first order its due to arrive next Wednesday. I’m looking forward to making it.
My question is on behalf of my epileptic brother (55yrs old). I have not seen any people with his condition among the testimonies so far.
Could you recommend this for him?. He is been sick all his life.
Please advice me. He is autistic too and non verbal.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Thank you in advance for the work you are doing to help everyone.

    Kind regards.

  • My husband had bladder cancer last year, lucky it was the kind they could remove. This year it came back. He has been drinking your tea 3 times a day for a year, and still it came back. We are very disappointed.
